We are trying to meet the future by doing what we did in the past. Kids back then believed " if you work hard in school and do well you will goto college and then get a job." and children now don't. They are right not to. Two views, economic and intellectual. We shouldn't be getting kids through school by drugging them.
The way they illustrated the ideas that he was talking about caught my attention and actually made me understand better. I like what he said about that they are trying to teach in the past rather than what we should be doing using our resources we have to technology now. I also like how he added that people who are brilliant don't believe it and try to hide it.
This was very interesting to see how things are changing. It was cool to see the illustration of these ideas. It was cool how they talked about that at first it wasn't really easy at first for students to cheat. Now they call that collaboration. I think that someday school will eventually be everywhere and not just in a building. We can see this already with our one-to-one program at this school.
Kids need to be motivated by them selfs to do well in school, the system is ok already, but I guess they need to find out how to motivate everyone tho.
This shows how we have progressed. Like before if you had a college degree then you had an excellent change of being chosen over others but in the present it doesn't matter if you have a degree, it is who can get it done fastest, cheapest and easiest. Soon if it continues that way there maybe no people getting college degrees because they don't need them, that is bad people do need college degrees just to remember that they worked hard to get where they are while the people that don't go to school don't really have anything to show that they know what they are doing, unless they worked somewhere else that had the same topic and got a recommendation.
I really like how the drawing emphasized his points. Because we're in an economy that is so desperate for more finances, we are relying on education to bring a previous generation finances that they are exponentially becoming more unable to provide for themselves. Good video. Very innovative thoughts.
The way he talked through out the video while drawing it out made me really interested and I actually understood it better! I liked how he used the visual learning technique, it definitely got my attention and it seems like from everyone's posts that it grabbed their attention too.
I agree with Hope. Since he talks pretty fast, his drawings helped me understand more of what he was trying to say. I also liked how he touched on the fact that back in the day students were told if you work hard, do well, and get a college degree you are guaranteed a job. And that in todays world you can't believe that due to the economy.
I agree with that we should be looking for a way to change the way we do education as we have been doing the same things for several years. Thomas Edison defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I think that defines how we have been going about this as we have not changed much in the way of teaching and education in the past years but expect it to produce different results.
I think this video shows a great way to think about things. I like how he illustrated it, and made it interesting to watch. I really like how he used the visual learning and it made me undertand it a lot better than I would have if he would have just stood up there and talked the whole entire time.
I agree with everything he said about the kids not paying attention in class so they say that the child has ADHD. But some time the child think it is just boring in that class. They need to change the way how they teach.

ReplyDeleteI think this shows that unless a new school system is created then eventually more and more kids won't be able to keep up with the old system.
